The Lao call this flower “Burmese gold”; its colour and subtle fragrance could only be chosen in the worship of the Buddha; it is used to make bouquets, garlands and pyramids for ceremonies at the pagoda or at home. In addition, several Buddhist schools believe that it was under a saraca tree the Buddha was born.
Flowers from the branches, same beautiful flushes of weeping new leaves as it’s orange cousin.
