Pinanga coronata (Ivory Cane Palm)
An elegant clumping palm with slender, cream-coloured stems and feathery, arching foliage — a refined, rainforest-native alternative to common screening palms. New leaves emerge with a striking pink-red flush before deepening to green, and mature clumps put on a real show with fruit that ripens from green through red to deep purple.
Native to the humid rainforests of Indonesia, it’s perfectly at home in warm, moist, shaded Wet Tropics conditions. Easy-care once established, forming dense multi-stemmed clumps ideal for understory planting, privacy screening, or a standout feature in a pot on the patio. It is a stunning alternative to the dreaded Golden Cane in tropical and frost free subtropical gardens. It can also be grown indoors as a pot palm in cooler climates.
One of our favourites — we grow plenty of these and have advanced plants available for pickup for our Mission Beach customers.
