This cross between Beefsteak and Pogonantha has slightly less imbricated bracts. It tends to flower all year. We recommend it around swimming pools. Another truly awesome, highly desirable heliconia.
Also better flowering in the subtropics (i.e. Brisbane, Sunshine Coast) than Beefsteak.

Heliconia “Bushmaster” (sold in Australia as “Dinosaur”)
A cross between Beefsteak and Pogonantha, this heliconia brings slightly less imbricated bracts and a genuinely awesome, highly desirable presence to the garden. Another truly special heliconia — flowering more or less all year round, with long-lasting blooms that hang heavy off the plant, making a genuinely big statement wherever it’s planted.
An easy grower in the Wet Tropics and a fantastic feature plant, reaching 4-6 metres tall. We recommend it around swimming pools, and it’s also superb planted as a row along a large walkway — the sheer scale and weight of the flowers create real drama when repeated down a path. Better flowering in the subtropics (Brisbane, Sunshine Coast) than Beefsteak.

We ship to QLD, NSW, ACT and VIC via Australia Post eParcel with tracking on every order. Flat rate shipping applies — see checkout for rates to your state. We are unable to ship to WA, SA, TAS or NT at this time.
When We Ship
Orders are picked and packed weekly. During extreme heat, we may hold your order for a cooler shipping window to protect your plants in transit — if this happens, we'll let you know via email. We don't ship into known heatwave conditions.
When Your Plants Arrive
Open your box as soon as possible. Even a few hours in a hot letterbox or on a doorstep can stress tropical plants. Give them a good drink of water and a light foliar spray of kelp solution, place them in a shaded spot for a day or two gradually increasing light to recover from transit, then plant out or pot up into their permanent position.
