Darwin Chocolate Delight Ginger
A Unique Two-Tone Cut Flower
Darwin Chocolate Delight is a genuinely unique ginger, prized for its striking two-tone inflorescence — dark maroon outer bracts contrasting beautifully with limey-green inner bracts. It’s one of the “Darzing” series of ginger cut-flower varieties, bred and developed by the DPIFM in partnership with the local cut-flower industry, specifically selected for commercial traits like earlier flowering, improved vigour and yield, larger flower size, and genuinely unique form and colour.
Easy to Grow, Reliable Flowering
A mid-flowering variety, Darwin Chocolate Delight blooms from around August/September through to February, giving you a long flowering window across the warmer months. It’s a moderate producer, typically putting out 30 to 50 stems per plant — a reliable, easy-care performer rather than a fussy specialty ginger.
A Genuine Cut Flower
Bred with the commercial cut-flower industry in mind, this variety was selected for exactly the qualities that make a great vase flower — good stem count, strong form, and that eye-catching colour combination that stands out in any arrangement. If you love having unusual, striking blooms in the house, this is a genuinely rewarding one to grow.
