Alpinia malaccensis — Bulk Buy Screening Ginger
A Stunning Feature Ginger for Screening
Alpinia malaccensis is a stunning alpinia with large, upright, shell-like flowers — white and silky with a striking yellow, red-striped centre. Very tight clumping with a tidy, upright growth habit makes it a genuinely excellent landscaping plant, and one of the best options going for screening and blocking out neighbours.
Growing Conditions
- Typical height: 2 to 2.5m
- Climate: tropical or subtropical, or a warm protected position in temperate climates (e.g. Sydney, Melbourne)
- Light: full sun to part shade
- Growth habit: tight clumping, upright
- Soil: moist, well-drained, rich in organic matter

Perfect for Screening
Because it forms such tight, upright clumps, Alpinia malaccensis is genuinely one of the better ginger options for creating a dense, tidy privacy screen — no sprawling or gaps to worry about, just a neat, solid wall of growth topped with those stunning upright flowers. Plant a row for an effective, good-looking screen that does double duty as a genuine garden feature.

How We Pack
Every plant is soaked in a tri-kelp solution before packing to reduce transit stress and give your plants the best start. We pack using recycled boxes. Your plants travel secure, hydrated, and wrapped in materials we feel good about.
Where We Ship
We ship to QLD, NSW, ACT and VIC via Australia Post eParcel with tracking on every order. Flat rate shipping applies — see checkout for rates to your state. We are unable to ship to WA, SA, TAS or NT at this time.
When We Ship
Orders are picked and packed weekly. During extreme heat, we may hold your order for a cooler shipping window to protect your plants in transit — if this happens, we'll let you know via email. We don't ship into known heatwave conditions.
When Your Plants Arrive
Open your box as soon as possible. Even a few hours in a hot letterbox or on a doorstep can stress tropical plants. Give them a good drink of water and a light foliar spray of kelp solution, place them in a shaded spot for a day or two gradually increasing light to recover from transit, then plant out or pot up into their permanent position. Most plants bounce back quickly — new growth within a few weeks is normal. for more information https://elarishtropicalexotics.com.au/2026/07/25/what-to-do-when-your-mail-order-plants-arrive/
Not Happy?
